An Independent Bible Believing Baptist Church
At Landmark we firmly hold that the King James Bible is the infallible Word of God in English. And as such, all doctrines taught therein are all the revelation we need for all matters of faith and practice.
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedge sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)
We up hold the Biblical truth that anyone convicted by the Word of God and led by the Holy Spirit can willingly and by choice repent (rethink or turn away from) their sin and turn their life over to and put their faith in the finished work, (death, burial, resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of the father where he makes intersession for man), and shed blood of Jesus Christ. And that this saving faith is confirmed by confession of the mouth unto salvation.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9,10)
Once born unto the spirit of God (or Born Again) you cannot be unborn. Only at this point are you God's child. Salvation cannot be lost due to anything mankind can do or not do, because, salvation is of the Lord not of man.
"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John 10:28)
With this comes the responsibility of knowing you are saved by various proofs set forth in scripture. (primarily the want and willingness to obey God's commands)
"And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." ( I John 2:3,4)
Baptism is by submersion and is an ordinance to be observed by saved believers ONLY. (Not babies or children before the age of knowing right and wrong). Baptism is not essential to obtain salvation but is to be observed after salvation.
"...and the ennuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Phillip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. (Acts 8:36,37)
The Lords Supper is and ordinance to be observed by born again believers ONLY. (Not so frequently as to mislead some to assume it has something to do with securing salvation or dulls its sincerity. But keep it special and holy as the Lord requires.)
"Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils." (I Corinthians 10:21)
The second coming of the Lord consist of two great events.
The first event is the "Rapture of the Church". This is when all of the born again believers will be caught up to meet the Lord in the sky. This event will usher in "The Great Tribulation". A time of turmoil for all those who were not saved at the time of rapture.
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. " (I Thessalonians 4:16,17)
The second event of the "Second Coming' is the return of the Lord in Glory. This is when the Lord Jesus Christ will make His glories return as King of kings and Lord of lords. And when the Lord Jesus will part the sky riding a white horse, destroying the Anti-Christ with brightness of his coming, and setting up his "Millennial Kingdom" were he will rule this world perfectly for 1000 years.
"And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war." (Revelations 19:11)
